Annual Giving
Critical to the success of HWUSA is the annual giving campaign. Annual giving generates much needed support to allow HWUSA to continue to serve the employer community, adult job seekers and most importantly Houston´s youth.
Throughout the year, HWUSA sponsors fundraising events to supplement the annual giving campaign. Sponsorships and underwriting opportunities exist to support the organization. Please contact HoustonWorks USA for information regarding future events.
Scholarships
Each year, HWUSA and its employees hosts a ceremony to honor the achievements of local youth and to offer support through scholarships. Last year five $1,000 and one $2,000 scholarships were awarded. Mary Kay Merriman Scholarship
Established in 2006 in honor of Mrs. Mary Kay Merriman. She served as a HWUSA Board Member for over ten years, HISD teacher for over twenty years and held offices or served on committees for various organizations including the League of Women Voters. Mrs. Merriman left a legacy of dedication and commitment to the education of Houston's youth. In her name a $2,000 scholarship is awarded each year to the young person majoring in the field of education. Individuals may choose to sponsor a scholarship or establish a scholarship.
